the house

We started a little closet renovation this past week. Due to my excellent builder scheduling skills i turned two little closets into a wonderful master walk in closet all with in 4 days. We have also added crown moulding throughout the house and changed out the kitchen hardware. Tomorrow is going to be a crazy busy morning, we are trying to move 99% of our apartment, Liz's storage unit (aka her parents house), and have all of our new furniture that we bought delivered all between the hours of 8am-12pm. Wish me luck or just come help.

Closing

Today is the big day of becoming a homeowner. We have been super busy packing, shopping for furniture and doing the last minute run around to make sure the deal is going to happen. We close today at 4pm and I think the sellers will be out on Sunday. We have actually become friends with the sellers and they seem really nice. We might be going out to dinner to celebrate!!

Well i have to get to work because i am leaving early today.

Ill keep you updated on my updates to the home and i am sure i will have some good delivery/cable set up stories to come.

new fridge....

We are closing in little over a week and we are getting really excited. We went over to our new house last night to measure some rooms, and deliver some stones and flagstone that i am going to use to build an outdoor kitchen. It was fun to see the house again and see that the sellers are getting all packed up and getting excited about their move.

We have been doing a lot of shopping in the last month and made our first big purchase. A brand new fridge.

We got a little nervous because this is the one we found at Home Depot and loved but we didn't think it would fit. It is going to barely fit and we got an amazing deal on it due to my builders discount. It is going to be nice to have a fridge that will actually store more than a weeks worth of food.

The next big ticket item is a TV. Anybody have any ideas on brands? We have been leaning towards a Samsung. But there is just too many to choose from now.

flat tire, biker man, and me being an idiot

Funny story to poke fun at myself.... while we were house hunting last night I notice that my front tire was getting low. So I find my local QT and pull in to get free AIR. As I get the hose out to fill my tire up, a man pulls up with a bike that has a low tire, he says to me "you got a bad leak there buddy".... really man, thanks for telling me that as i am filling it up. I finally give up as my tire is almost 100% flat at this point and just give him the air hose. I start to talk to Liz about how we might be changing a tire in the parking lot. The biker gingerly walks over to the air machine and turns the air on..... yes everyone I was letting all of the air out of my tire, the man on the bike gently hands me the air hose and rides off into the sunset and Liz starts laughing in the car..... I fill up the tire and put the hose up.... Iam proud to say the tire is still full of air this morning. But I am still an Idiot.

one year

 

The first year of marriage has sure flown bye. It seems like just yesterday we were standing outside on the record high day getting married. We have learned a lot about each other and how to live in a small one bed and ONE BATH apartment with a dog. It has been a great year and we celebrated this weekend by going to Ft Worth. We stayed in the brand new Omni Hotel, went to the Ft. Worth Zoo and had an amazing dinner at Bobs steak and chop house. I added some pics from the zoo. We ate the top of our cake the week we got back from the honeymoon, so i surprised Liz by getting a replica top layer of our wedding cake. It was sooooo good and it went great with the free champagne the hotel gave us. Anyways it was a great weekend and i am so blessed to have a great wife.

Liz graduated, we went to las vegas,we moved, liz started her new job, liz had a birthday, we have been to three weddings, went to two rangers games and saw some fireworks on the 4th. 

Dude is doing good in case you are wondering..... well that is about it for our little Blog.

This weekend we were pretty busy with all of the graduation festivies, i felt like all we did was drive from place to place. It was a great weekend and we had a lot of fun with all our family and friends. So now i guess i have to refer to Liz, as Master. .......

new hood again?

Yes it is true i am leaving my work home in Austin Waters to a new work home that is less than 10 mins from my apartment and a lot more active neighborhood in Los Colinas. So that is pretty cool i guess. Oh ya and this weekend Liz is graduating from TCU!!!!!!!!!!!

Random Thought of the day: why do we have to use turn signals in turn only lanes?

this IS happening

So being the good/great dog parents that we are, we know that happy dogs (much like children) are tired dogs.... so we try round 2 of Dude in the dog park.  Last week we took our little Dude over to the Southlake Dog Park for him to run out some energy. Until he got gang raped by a boxer, a yellow lab, a pomeranian and about 3 other unidentified breeds.  EVEN after we pulled them away multiple times.  They always came back for more Dude.  I guess what do you expect being the most handsome dog in the park/ entire world.  Poor little Dude could NOT figure out that he could run faster than the big guys and just got backed into the corner of the fence-- when he wasn't playing dead. So after that traumatic experience, we go back for round 2 today at Fort Woof Dog Park.

Today was MUCH better and Dude adapted very quickly to having all the space to run in.  He made a few friends (big and small) and ran around like a crazy man.  There were some dogs COVERED in mud and totally filthy thanks to all the rainstorms we have been having.  Luckily, Dude stayed out of the mud, this time.  It was a really fun afternoon. After nearly an hour of canine fun, Dude was just exhausted! So we say bye to his new friends and head out to the parking lot.... to find THIS:

 

Oh yes, in case you didn't catch that it is a FAT (possibly the fattest) chihuahua ever. Dressed as a king.  Wearing a cape.  Properly positioned on a foam pad.  Hands on the steering wheel.  Driving a little tykes pink car. 

Yep. Just another day at the dog park.

Rain Rain Rain Golf Rain Rain

Well it has been a very rainy day down here today. Liz is off to Norman to hang out with some of her college girl friends..... So i got to spend the day with Dude and some of my Dallas friends.

I have never really been a hobby person, never really hunted, played a ton of golf, fished etc. I have really been craving to start a hobby or find something to do. So I am trying to practice/play more golf. So today my friends and I had a tee time at this really nice course and about an hour before we were to start, strong T-storms came in, so we had to cancel our round. We were all bummed out and then a break in the storms happened and we called about 10 places and found a course that said they would let us play. So we get to the course as fast as we could and start our round. It was awesome. There was no one on the course except for us, it had a nice cool breeze and the course was just in awesome shape. We played 9 holes in about hour and fifteen mins and i actually played decent for once in my life, maybe it was because we were trying to play so fast and i didnt have time to think about anything. We get to the 8th hole and on our carts GPS screen it says a T-storm is approaching. So we finish up 9 and go check the radar and a huge storm was coming, the guy was nice enough to give us a 9 hole rain check. Come to find out the storm before we started knocked over the Dallas Cowboys training faculty and the storm after we left dropped about 2 more inches of rain..... So i am guess i am glad we got to play and didnt get hit by lightning because that would of been bad..... 

another note, i hate Directv because every time it rains, i have no TV, so right now i have no idea if anything crazy is going on with this storm that is lighting up the sky with lightning. 

We also changed our trip to Las Vegas, so i hope we wont get the swine flu there.....

Trip Update

AA pushed the date back for the flu policy..... To change the trip will cost $30 for the hotel or to get a full refund it will cost $59 a person.... We have been looking at other USA travel destinations.... I keep you up to date 

On another note: we decided to take Dude to the Southlake dog park tonight. Dude had to go into the big dog park because there was no little dogs to play with. Dude really got taken advantage of by the bigger dogs, it was kinda sad. But Liz and I had fun playing with all the dogs while dude hid behind us.

So we have a trip planned to Mexico may 17th - may 21st to celebrate Liz's upcoming graduation.... everyone keeps asking me what we are going to do and honestly we have no idea what we are going to do.

American Airlines just extend the Mexico Travel Policy to all flight/trips planned from now to May 16th, where you can cancel for free, move locations for free or move the date of the trip for free. So as of right now we cant change it, but most likely it will get pushed out again in the next few days. So what would you guys do?

Ps Liz accepted the Job at the place in North Richland Hills. WAY TO GO LIZ!!!!!!!

i chose....

I know you all want to know what i decided to do on my ticket....

I chose to take defensive driving and have it not go on my record. It was a rainy Friday so i got a few hours done at work and then Dude woke me up around 6am on Saturday so i just went ahead and finished the class. I only missed two questions on the whole class. 1) what color was the cop car in the last video you watched and 2) what does a rail road crossing sign look like.... Who know railroad crossing have two different signs.

It was kinda fun to go over all of that stuff that you learn when you are taking drivers ed. Did you know in Texas up until 2000 something it was illegal to be a passenger under the age of 17 in the front seat with no shoes on?

Well that is about all i have to blog about. . .

what would you pick

here are my ticket options.... what would you guys do

1) Pay the $180 and it goes on my record

2) Pay $195 and go on probation for 90 days and it does NOT go on my record

or 3) Pay a court fee of $107 and have to take a $25- six hour defensive driving course and it doesn't go on my record.


I guess it is a decision on how much my time is worth......

Stupid Tickets

I think I must have a record of getting stupid traffic tickets....

Here is my rundown of stupid tickets

1) age 17... first time mom and dad let me drive outside of Tulsa. Speeding coming back from Stillwater with 6 high school kids in the car. The speed limit dropped like 10 miles an hour and I didn't see it or something.

2) Parking in a yard at a OU football game my freshman year, I paid the frat house to park there because OU likes to sell the student parking on gamedays.

3) Sophomore year of college. Parking backwards with one tire on the line of a handicap spot at my apartment when i was moving out. My trunk and doors were wide open and I was taking loads out to the car and inbetween loads I got a $60 parking ticket.

4) Jr year of college. Not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign and pulling out in front of a cop... stupid me

5) Summer after I graduated college, the one time I actaully got out of a ticket only because it was a day away from my birthday. Got clocked speeding by an airplane on I-35 and the one car they pulled over was ME, not the semi truck that was flying by me or the other million cars that passed me that day...

6) and then today I get pulled over for going straight from one side to the other side of a 4 lane road in The Colony, Texas. The issue was that it was posted right turn only. So I am the lucky guy that got pulled over and ticketed for "Disregard Traffic Control Device." Awesome i love paying $180 tickets for crossing the road with no traffic with in a 1/4 mile of me...... Must be a slow crime day....

sick sick sick

Well this week at the SMiller compound. We both have been battling the sick bug. It is the first time we have been sick together as a married couple, pretty cute huh? HAHA Well we really don't have any fun news to blog about, Liz is finishing up her last few weeks of school and hunting for a Job, and I am just working. Dude is still loves his walks, trips to the dog parks, meeting new friends and playing fetch for hours in our apartment. So that is pretty much all that we have been doing.

-Anybody been watching idol? This year is really good some weeks and then some weeks it is just awful. Who do y'all like?
